Teeth Straightening
Long term results from fixed braces or innovative clear aligner system ClearCorrect
Today’s advanced orthodontics make achieving the smile of your dreams faster and more convenient than ever before – and with payment plans available to help you spread the cost of your teeth straightening treatment, there’s never been a better time to commit to this transformative treatment with Curzon Park Dental.
We offer a range of teeth straightening options to cater for all cases. Fixed braces are still an excellent tool for correcting more severe cases involving pronounced overlapping, overbites, underbites, crossbites, and jaw alignment issues. ClearCorrect braces, on the other hand, provide you with the option of removing your aligners to eat, drink and brush your teeth, which provides additional flexibility and can help you maintain better oral health over the course of your teeth straightening programme.

Teeth straightening FAQs
WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS FOR TEETH STRAIGHTENING?
The most common teeth straightening methods involve either fixed braces or clear aligners. Each option offers its own advantages, and not everyone suitable for fixed braces will be eligible for a course of clear aligners, or vice versa. During your consultation, our orthodontist will explain the pros and cons of each approach and carry out a full assessment of your mouth to determine which is the best course of treatment.
ARE CLEAR ALIGNERS AS EFFECTIVE AS BRACES?
Clear aligners – such as those within the ClearCorrect system – are fantastic for correcting mild to moderate alignment issues. They are discreet, removable, and comfortable, and in many ways, much better suited to modern life. However, for more severe cases, traditional braces may be a better way forward, as they have the ability to address complex tooth and jaw movements.
DO TEETH STRAIGHTENING TREATMENTS HURT?
Mild discomfort is common, especially after our orthodontist has adjusted your fixed brace, or you have moved to a new aligner tray. This is because the teeth are being gradually guided into their new positions. Any pain or sensitivity will usually subside within a few days and can be managed with over-the-counter pain relief.
HOW LONG DOES TEETH STRAIGHTENING TAKE?
The answer to this question very much depends on how misaligned your teeth are to begin with, and how closely you follow your treatment programme, particularly in the case of ClearCorrect aligners, which need to be worn for between 20 and 22 hours per day for the most effective results. Mild cases can take as little as 6 months, but most patients can expect to wear their braces for between 12 and 18 months, sometimes longer.
DO I NEED A RETAINER AFTER STRAIGHTENING MY TEETH?
Yes ! Teeth naturally tend to shift back to their original position, so wearing a retainer as directed by our orthodontist will help to keep your teeth in their preferred positions. Retainers can be fixed or removable, depending on your treatment plan.
